What is Teeth Whitening or Teeth Bleaching?

If you want to improve the color of your teeth you may want to consider teeth whitening, sometimes also called teeth bleaching. Whitening your teeth can improve your confidence drastically! Not having white teeth isn’t always your fault. There are many reasons someone’s teeth can over time lose their whiteness such as eating certain foods, drinking certain beverages, smoking, etc.

Benefits of Whitening Your Teeth

Having a glowing, white smile can dramatically enhance your appearance. Who doesn’t want to look their best especially when there is a solution so simple! There are other benefits other than just the aesthetic look of whiter teeth such as increased self-confidence, boosted self-esteem, and it helps kill bacteria that could cause disease and/or tooth decay.

How Teeth are Whitened: What Is the Procedure?

Even though there are over-the-counter options for whitening your teeth the best results are through a cosmetic dentist. Teeth whitening products used by professional dentists are much safer and will give you the best possible results.

Step 1: Contact CDG for a dentist who participates in the grant program.

Step 2: Consult with a CDG dentist to look at your teeth to prepare for the treatment

Step 3: The whitening appointment where you will have your teeth bleached. Here your dentist will apply the whitening gel. Afterward, there may be high-powered light that speeds up the whitening process applied.

Step 4: Some whitening treatments require multiple sessions.

Step 5: Enjoy those pearly whites! Typically the effects of whitening by a dentist can last months to years.

How Much Does it Cost to Get Your Teeth Whitened?

The average cost of teeth whitening treatments at a dentist can cost somewhere between $500-$1,000 depending on the type of product used. Although this is the average price of professional teeth whitening, we’ll help you with the cost if you qualify for a Cosmetic Dentistry Grant!

Types of Teeth Whitening

Getting your teeth whitened in a dentist’s office will offer excellent results. The treatment is typically quick, you could be in and out of the office in a little over an hour. If you want affordable, quick, effective, and beautiful results then you will want to go with an in-office teeth bleaching option.

Risks of Getting Your Teeth Whitened

If you’re thinking of wanting to improve the color of your teeth you should consult with your CDG dentist first to discuss any possible risks. Some people can get some sensitivity to the teeth or damage to the roots of their teeth. Dentists will be able to predict if you will have any issues or sensitivity issues before the treatment.

Teeth Whitening: FAQ

We are asked many questions about the teeth whitening process and procedure, so we’ve answered some of the most common questions below:

Is it work getting your teeth whitened at the dentists?

People who have had professional teeth whitening procedures will typically agree that the treatment is definitely worth the cost. The bigger picture is the quality of your bright smile.

What is the best teeth whitening treatment?

The best teeth whitening procedure is within the dentist’s office. In-office teeth bleaching will yield better results and get you back to feeling confident about that smile!

How can I whiten my teeth in one day?

Professional teeth whitening by a doctor will get you whiter teeth in around an hour.

Is teeth whitening bad for your teeth?

There is a chance that your teeth could become sensitive to the chemicals used in the teeth whitening formula especially if you already have sensitive teeth but in-dentist procedures won’t damage your teeth as at-home kits will. At-home whitening kits can harm the tooth enamel.

How do celebrities get their teeth so white?

The answer is simple, professional teeth whitening procedures! Celebrities frequently visit dentists who perform teeth whitening treatments that guarantee a perfect smile for the red carpet.

How long does professional teeth whitening last?

An in-office bleaching treatment can last anywhere from months to years depending on how much the patient keeps up with their oral hygiene and stays away from staining food/drinks.

From Our Recipients

Due to a serendipitous google search for something unrelated I learned about this opportunity and like a dream come true I will have something that I have wanted repaired for years, repaired. It began when I was 7 or 8, I had fallen on my face and my baby tooth was thrusted into my bone pushing my adult tooth up. Over the years of dental surgery and braces they were able to bring the tooth down but I had a lot of other issues that occured and things were never quite right and I did not have the money to repair it. But now I am and feel thankful and very happy. Thank you for your kind help. This will change my life for the better. Thank you.

Thomas Ryder - Elizabeth, NJ

I am very thankful to have been selected for the cosmetic dentistry grant and to Smile Select for helping me to achieve having a perfect smile. For about 8 years now I have grown up with braces on my teeth up until I needed my baby teeth removed, in which once tooth came down successfully and the other did not. Within time there was no progression and I was finally able to have options in getting my tooth back. Which did not feel possible at first. Luckily I overheard on the radio about the Cosmetic Dentistry Grants program and I have never felt so grateful to have been selected for this opportunity. I finally feel I am able to have a choice in getting the full smile I have dreamed of having. Thank you once again for making this possible for me.
